Summer's Journal I posted this locally and received a nice response so I'm posting it here. This has really nothing to do with gaming but I'm sending this because there always seem to be gripes hanging about of wanting to help out more in the charital aspects and not knowing how. This is an easy activity that anyone can do from their computer. For those not aware, the MHE Coalition is the charity which my mother was instrumental in founding to help families and patients that have the same rare genetic bone condition that me, Beka, and my mother have. Its website is found at www.mhecoalition.com. My mom was just reelected for a second term as its president. Growing up we did not know anyone else outside the three of us challenged by the same health problems that we were. At 12th Night 2000, that ended for us on a side trip when we met the first person outside our family who was hospitalized for it in St. Louis at the time. Since the MHE Coalition was founded in 2000, over 1,400 families around the world have come forward with the same diagnosis and now connect to this group and communicate on a regular basis, every child recovering from their MHE related surgeries and all their siblings have received packages of gifts and greetings, and over $75,000 from fundraising efforts has been sent to help fund medical research grants in identifying affected genes and continue research into the direct chemical causes which were identified two years ago. This group has sponsored two international conferences allowing medical professionals from around the world to discuss their findings and a number of regional gatherings periodically occur for families to congregate and discuss their efforts to combat, coexist with, and eventually eradicate this disease. So if you're looking for something on May 25th and beyond and want to help out a charity, I humbly ask that you give Goodsearch and MHE Coalition a try. Thanks, Kimberly Lowe Cam #US2002021700 Subj:[M_H_E] May 25 - Coalition Goodsearch Charity of the Day Date:5/18/2006 4:26:38 PM Eastern Standard Time From:smwynn_99@yahoo.com Reply-to:M_H_E@yahoogroups.com To:M_H_E@yahoogroups.com Sent from the Internet (Details) Hi, everyone... We received the following email from www.goodsearch.com this afternoon... "We have chosen to honor the MHE Coalition as Charity of the Day on the GoodSearch site on May 25. Please let all of your supporters know to look for your logo and a link to your site on the GoodSearch homepage on that day. And that if they use GoodSearch EVERY DAY, they can earn money for your organization with every search (so they don’t confused and think it only works that day!) As some inspiration, please see how well the Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy did in spreading the word when they were charity of the day – by putting “FSMA” into the “I’m supporting” box and clicking on “amount raised." For anyone who doesn't know about goodsearch, it's a search engine - powered by Yahoo - that donates money to charity for each search. When you go to the site, enter "MHE Coalition" in the box that says "I'm supporting...", and you'll be able to verify MHE Coalition (Olmsted Falls, OH). Please remember to use this search engine only for legitimate searches. Fraudulent use will result in losing our status as an approved charity. Please get the word out to your family, friends and co-workers about GoodSearch, and also about our selection as charity of the day on May 25th! Thanks!!! Matthew Nelson. The same Camarilla leech which ditched out on an $1,800 back rent bill, stole our books and sold them for his own ICC pocket money, and STILL hasn't sent me my house key 10 months later. He now lives in Texas leeching off another cammie after having moved 6 times in the last year while still ducking out on his debts. Do people think I'm stupid or something? I know exactly where Jen and Kendall Shew are now living. I've known for *months* where they would be. Troll elsewhere Matthew... move along now. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop victimizing fellow friends, but there's nothing I can do about that. Cam grownups are cam grownups and if they're not going to listen to the voice of experience, there's nothing much I can do... ... but Matthew is that nightmare psycho obsession freak conman that your parents were always worried you would be victimized by. This I know from personal experience. It's November and I still don't have the money to turn the gas back on here at the house. It's going to take a little over $1000 to get that back on. In the meantime, I have friends and family who have been very generous in their help. It's going to cost me $100 to change the locks adding to Matt's debt. Oh.. and beware. Matt now lives in Texas having fled Alabama in the same modis operandi that he fled New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio before that. For those who think I'm lying. I'm not. He can't even bother to spend 37 cents to send back the house key that he took too. Get a job and prove me wrong Matthew Nelson Cam #US2004041340, but I know you won't. You got too good of a thing going. Current mood: what is a hooka? Current mood: The Parts of Pennons that Somehow didn't Register with Some... Apparently this wasn't relayed loud enough or far enough because someone is getting some flack and it gets worse. I'm posting this in an effort to make sure it's the right amount of flack. The players' names listed here are for people's reference. The following is public knowledge to anyone who observed my character or those near her at Pennons. The storyteller contacts to verify this information or answer other questions are: Sean Morris (skmorris83@hotmail.com) and Larry Jarrell (larryjarrell@herdt.org). I'd also like to mention that while some of this was going on with Summer the character, on Friday afternoon, Kim the East Coast Ohioan human was finishing napping off some jetlag from a stressful replacement flight 24 hours before which was supposed to be 36 hours before. Summer ni Scathach (Kimberly Lowe) didn't come to Pennons alone. She didn't hire a babysitter and leave her family behind. She spent some time with Revel (Anne Nutwell) and Marco (Jesse Belanger), yes... but... There was a tall thin elderly gentleman with gray hair and some familial resemblance present. He has been seen in some kithain social circles before - notably Ireland, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Portland, and Northeast Ohio areas. Those who have met him know his name is Dr. Robert Winslow. He possesses a walking cane which some have seen a rapier drawn from. For those who have known Summer for a while, its not hard to figure out that my character is a nursing mother. Most of her clothing is crafts x6 tailored. There were two auburn-haired blue-eyed happy and healthy looking eight-month-old toddlers present along with various baby toys. One twin (boy) is taller and weightier than the other (girl) and both have more than enough initial resemblance to be called twins. Pink and blue stuffed twin dragons are always around the babies. They're usually carried by the adults in a side-by-side twin baby carrier. Most people have heard the names Cat and Corey applied to them. These children bear a very strong resemblance to Summer ni Scathach and Flynn ap Fiona (PC now deceased, Matt Brooks) who are known to be their parents. Whenever these children look at things or people around them, their eyes focus on those objects. They squeal, they giggle, they laugh, they smile, they grunt, one babbles while the other doesn't, they crawl, they toddle, they walk for short distances, they try to put all sorts of things in their mouths, they make all sorts of baby noises, they put up with their adults taking *tons* of pictures of them, but never at Pennons were they observed crying. A three foot tall winged monkey with brown fur was also present. Its favorite possession can be deduced to be a fully stocked diaper bag that it doesn't like sharing with others. Its favorite hobby is playing with the children. After everyone else was done grabbing their share of the dandelions on Sunday afternoon, Summer and these children and the elderly man were out wandering in the field having a great time photographing, playing and toddling around picking the flowers like mad and a great number of the glamour engorged weeds ended up stuffed in the kids' mouths before Summer could stop them. Summer was ponderous and careful about how she picked her wildflowers. When Summer wasn't socializing with the kithain present... When Summer wasn't competing in the events... Summer was with her family. If you want to put a kenning test to them, email the storytellers listed above. Current mood: [Color digital photograph with a date stamp of July 4, 2005 at 14:05. Red-haired blue-eyed six month old baby Cat in a red sundress lying on a bed of raked sand pushing herself up and holding her head up - looking surprised, wide eyed, and caught with her mouth open as if she's saying something. Within an adults arm length of Cat, red-haired blue-eyed six month old baby Corey in grey tshirt, shorts, with white baby shoes and socks standing up holding onto and petting a large rock. Looking at the camera, his expression is also one of surprise but his mouth is closed with a slight smile.] So... I haven't been around. It's because I've been catching my children practicing the time honored family tradition - Secrets. I want to sigh, but I won't. They're happy and they're healthy and if they get rid of 99% of Baird's addition given them I'm not going to complain even if I don't understand how they're doing it. Current mood: [Digital photograph of Summer in her mortal seeming holding two bundled infants. One in each arm. She's surrounded by pillows. Her long auburn red hair is pulled back from her face with a simple hair rubberhand. On her left wrist is seen a hospital identification bracelet. She's wearing a loose white nightgown. She's smiling softly for the camera. One infant has a pink knitted cap on her head with her hands and fingers obscuring her face. The second has a blue knitted cap on his head with his tongue seen as if the baby was possibly caught licking his lip or possibly caught sticking out his tongue. The digital timestamp on the picture says 01/02/2005 13:00:37.] All Things (Just Keep Getting Better) by Artist: Widelife featuring Simone Denny You came into my life And my world never looked so bright It's true, you bring out the best in me When you are around When you are around All things just keep getting better! The days keep getting better Nights keep getting better All things just keep getting better! Current mood: Current music: All Things Just Keep Getting Better - Widelife feat. S Denny. [Digital photograph of a woman asleep, her cheek laying supported upon her clasped hands and the pillow lying beneath them. The skin around her eyes looks a little puffy. Her long auburn red hair is pulled back from her face with a simple hair rubber band. Her bangs and hair above her ears seems a little wet. On her left wrist is seen a hospital identification bracelet. She's wearing a loose white nightgown. Her bosom seems swollen, yet observant persons who have seen her in recent times can tell that she seems to have lost some girth below that. She's laying on her side facing two plastic hospital basinets placed next to each other, each of which contains a sleeping bundled infant. One has a pink knitted cap on its head, the second has a blue knitted cap on its head. The digital timestamp on the picture says 01/01/2005 00:19:15.] Auld Lang Syne Words adapted from a traditional song by Rabbie Burns (1759-96) Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind Should auld acquaintaince be forgot And auld lang syne. chorus: For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne. And surely you'll be your pint stowp And surely I'll be mine, And we'll drink a richt guid willy waught For auld lang syne. [chorus] We twa hae run aboot the braes (we two have run about the hills) And pu'd the gowans fine, (and pulled the daisies fine) But we've wander'd monie a wearie fit' (but we’ve wandered many a weary foot) Since auld lang syne. (since old long ago) [chorus] We twa hae paidl'd in the burn (we two have paddled in the stream) Frae morning sun till dine (from morning sun (noon) until dinner-time) But seas a'tween us braid hae roar'd (but seas between us broad have roared) Since auld lang syne (since old long ago) [chorus] And here's a hand my trusty fere And gie's a hand o' thine And we'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne. [chorus] When we were children, tired of singing the last couple of lines of gibberish, my brother Ryan and I asked my mother what the words to Auld Lang Syne meant. That year, she patiently translated and taught us until we understood what we were singing answering every question of why. Mother did this rather than take the yearly visit to the crypt in the depth of Summer's Valley, wherein she had buried our father. I've put the translation in parentheses after the verse. With my work done here for now, I'm going downstairs to sing with the rest of the world. ~Dr. Robert Winslow, MD January 1, 2005 Out of Character Note: To those who have recognize her, the woman has the same face as the mortal seeming of Baroness Summer Wynd ni Scathach. Current music: Auld Lang Syne. "How far along are you?" I heard her voice. What? When did she get here? Shouldn't rest my eyes anymore. Tired. Couldn't help it. She gave a slight smile. "Sorry, didn't mean to startle you." Me: "Only have an estimate.. not sure.. expected in January, February sometime." She gave a slight nod. "Ultrasounds can pinpoint it rather well." She played with her dragonet. Diminutive size, weaknesses in breeding, stock origins, what its strengths will be ... I saw them all. It's why he left. It's smaller than Eldaramar and Tabitha. Born when I was in Boston, Tabitha's grown so much. So, so proud of her. "I don't think you and I have met." Me: "I've had plenty of them. There's a size difference between each of them..." Her: "Really? That's odd." She nodded and pushed back a lock of red hair. Me: "... and other extenuating circumstances." Her: "seems like alot of that is going around." Me: "extenuating circumstances?" Her: "Yeah. Seems alot of people are having them lately. for various things. Do you wish a boy or girl?" Me: "What I wish is irrelevant. Multiples run in the family. I seem to be having one of each." Her: "Wow." She made some kind of face. It wasn't pleasing. "I don't envy you on that. I'd beat the man who gave me a litter. Though...my sister says that it runs in mine too. I'm hoping, it runs by me. I bet the father is ecstatic to be having both." Me: "The father does not believe they are his. He's ecstatic about nothing as he feels nothing. He gave up his mortal shell. The third genetic donor is unknown." Her: "that's horrible." Me: "it .. merely is." She looked at her dragon, then back up to me, "Is it Keighavan's?" It!?!? I shuddered. Limit. I managed to get out, "ask him," as she disappeared from my sight. I heard the beeping as it went off; as I tried to wake up. Current mood: |
